Gala Evening commemorating
50 Anniversary of Forefathers' Eve directed by Kazimierz Dejmek,
15 Anniversary of  Kazimierz Dejmek's Death and
10 Anniversary of Gustaw Holoubek's death.

50 years ago Kazimierz Dejmek staged Adam Mickiewicz's Forefathers' Eve with the lead role of Gustaw-Konrad performed by Gustaw Holoubek. The openinig night was a great success, then shortly after the production was classified by the communist government as an anti-Soviet manifestation and cancelled in the beginning of 1968 – it led to street protests and political crisis in March, 1968. Dejmek was removed from his position of director of Narodowy Theatre.

On March 5th we will present the digital reconstruction of audio recordings of the Forefathers' Eve production made at the opening night in 1967.

The Gala Evening dedicated to Forefathers' Eve, Kazimierz Dejmek and Gustaw Holoubek, will be hosted by Jan Englert, the current Artistic Director, while the actors of Narodowy Theatre read the authentic texts describing the events of the March' 1968.
