A Dream Play
After the well-received Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Sławomir Narloch returns to the National Theatre with another premiere.
A Dream Play was written by Swedish playwright August Strindberg at the beginning of the last century. In this drama, hope intertwines with pain, sadness mingles with ridicule, and the pursuit of happiness seems like an interminable dream. The daughter of the god Indra descends to earth to learn about all the different aspects of people’s lots in life. This story – full of songs and striking images – is told by a travelling theatre troupe and takes place in the dreamlike depths of human consciousness.
The play contains the Introit from Requiem op. 48 by Gabriel Fauré.
