Farewells

A boy from a good family and a taxi dancer happen on each other before the occupation and after the Warsaw Uprising. Taking on Stanisław Dygat’s novel, Agnieszka Glińska tells a tale of unrequited love and the vanishing of pre-war Poland.

Love will not be fulfilled. Neither prior to the horrors of war nor within the new order imposed from the East. Glińska presents a story of a broken generation and contemplates the fate of the Polish intelligentsia and its legacy. She directs the drama with great flair, emotional insight and a focus on psychological complexities, but not without edge and irony.
