The Misanthrope

Jan Englert stages the classic play by Molière.

At its premiere in 1666, the play was regarded as a satire on Paris salons with their snobbery and hypocrisy. Above all, however, Molière poses a universal question about what lies behind the title character's attitude. What is Alcest's misanthropy: an uncompromising commitment to the truth or a doomed uprising against social conventions? And, can love cure misanthropy?

Please mind that due to the layout of the stage, late spectators will not be allowed in the audience. Please arrive at the show several minutes in advance.
